SRINAGAR: Google is inviting applications for the Software Student Training in Engineering Programme (STEP) Internship for the summer of 2024. The applications should be submitted by January 19, 2024. The summer internship is scheduled to commence in May 2024, with a duration of 10-12 weeks.
It will be accessible to underrepresented groups, who will have completed their second year of university studies by the summer of 2024, pursuing a course in Computer Science or a closely related subject. The initiative comprises three primary elements: a software project, skills-oriented training, and professional development. It is accessible to all eligible university students and is dedicated to tackling diversity issues within the company and the broader technology sector.
The summer internship programme incorporates a development project that will collaborate with a team of Googlers and other STEP Interns. Candidates will get to refine their coding skills and get acquainted with various tools and programming languages. Additionally, candidates will have to participate in continuous technical talks delivered by senior Googlers, and be paired with a Google Engineer who will mentor them throughout the summer, and partake in social activities, community building, and networking.
Applicants should be presently enrolled in a Bachelor’s programme with a major or intent to major in Computer Science or a related technical field. They should have experience in one or more general-purpose programming languages. Preferably, students should be enrolled in a full-time degree programme with plans to return after completing the internship.
Applicants should have programming skills in languages such as C++, Java, or Python. They should also have capability to undertake a full-time, 10-12 week internship between May and August 2024 (exact programme dates will be communicated later in the process).
