Hurriyat (m) has  condemned the government for being inhuman and vengeful towards the youth and children arrested during the current agitation. It said detainees from one district are being held in another district and the motive is to harass them, a statement issued here said.

The statement said that its legal team comprising Advocates Ajaz Dar, Aamir Masoodi, Showkat Dar and Mudasir Dar have visited various jails across the valley and found the government deliberately putting prisoners belonging to one district in jails in another district in order to harass them and their families. It is aimed at preventing their meetings with their families, the statement alleged.

The team visited sub jail Baramulla where inmates were on a hunger strike after they were attacked by the cops inside the prison for demanding medical help for a seriously ill prisoner. “The prisoners accused that in their rage the police personnel burnt and destroyed their belonging clothes bedding shoes and were punishing them further by refusing to provide any heating arrangement against the biting cold in prison,” the statement said.
