SRINAGAR: The government has allocated Rs 40.96 lakh in funding to five non-governmental organisations (NGOs) operating in Jammu and Kashmir for the financial year 2024-25. The assistance is aimed at supporting disability care and rehabilitation services in the region.
The five NGOs that have received financial assistance under different welfare schemes are:
Voluntary Medicare Society, Srinagar (Vikaas – Day Care scheme) – Rs 5.43 lakh
Muskan Foundation, Samba (Vikaas – Day Care scheme) – Rs 13.10 lakh
Chotay Taray Foundation, Srinagar (Vikaas – Day Care scheme) – Rs 1.95 lakh
Swamy Vivekanand Educational Trust, Vijaypur (Gharaunda – Group Home for Adult scheme) – Rs 13.70 lakh
Society for Women Entrepreneurs, Ganderbal (Vikaas – Day Care scheme) – Rs 5.78 lakh
These funds are intended to support initiatives that provide essential care, education, and rehabilitation for individuals with disabilities. The allocation follows a review of each organisation’s work and adherence to programme guidelines.
Officials emphasised that the utilisation of funds will be closely monitored, with NGOs required to submit detailed progress reports to ensure accountability and effective implementation of their projects.
The move is expected to enhance disability care services and contribute to the welfare of the differently-abled population in Jammu and Kashmir.
