Mirwaiz

Terming the “imposition of restrictions and ban on the peaceful activities of resistance leadership” and placing them under house arrest as unfortunate, Hurriyat Conference (m) Chairperson, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Friday said in the name of setting up of Sainik colonies, separate township for migrant Kashmiri Pandits and the new industrial policy government is trying to implement anti-Kashmiri plans that are framed to divide the Kashmiri society and damage the disputed status of J&K.

Stressing that the return of Kashmiri Pandits was being politicized to present the just struggle of Kashmiri people as “extremist movement”, Mirwaiz said this was being done to give an impression that Kashmiri Pandits were not safe among Kashmiri Muslims, therefore, a separate township for them.

He said, however, the reality was that APHC believes Kashmiri Pandits are an integral part of Kashmiri society and the conglomerate has always welcomed their return to Kashmir.

Mirwaiz said that to register a protest and make people aware about the effects of such plans the “resistance leadership” has chalked out a joint programme which would be followed with commitment.

Calling upon the government to clarify its stance over these issues, he said the APHC’s struggle has always been peaceful in every aspect and that it did not stand for disturbing peace.

Terming the arrest of Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front Chairperson, Muhammad Yasin Malik at Central Jail Srinagar, continued house arrest of veteran resistance leader, Syed Ali Shah Geelani and restrictions placed on the movement of rest of the “resistance leadership” as the reflection of frustration on part of the government, Mirwaiz called upon the Government of India to realize that Kashmir was a political issue and that by using force and aggression, it had neither achieved any success in the past nor would it do so in the future.

Describing Kashmir’s resolution as a necessity for saving the future of crores of people of entire South Asia, he said the issue needed to be resolved as per the wishes and aspirations of the people of Kashmir through a meaningful dialogue process involving with the Indian, Pakistani and the people of Kashmir to find out a permanent and a long-lasting solution to it.
