Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti, Governor N. N. Vohra and Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh has greeted people of the State on the occasion of Janmashtami.

 Mehbooba Mufti expressed hope that this occasion will usher in an era of peace, harmony and prosperity in the State. She said that celebrating holy festivals in an atmosphere of amity and brotherhood has been a rich tradition of the State.

In his message of felicitations, the Governor observed that the divine message of Lord Krishna, enshrined in the Shrimad Bhagvad Gita, exhorts mankind to strive for the ultimate truth and to do one’s duty to the best of one’s ability without being concerned about the benefits to be gained. He observed that adherence to such values provides firm foundation for the functioning a harmonious society.

In his message, the Deputy Chief Minister said the teachings of Lord Krishna which have been enshrined in the Shrimad Bhagvad Gita exhort human beings to make every endeavor for the ultimate truth and to do one’s duty without caring for material gains. He said observance of such values provides firm foundation for a harmonious society.
