Governor N N Vohra, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him under sub-section (1) of section 53 of the Constitution of Jammu and Kashmir, has summoned the State Legislative Assembly and the Legislative Council to meet at Jammu on Monday, the 18th January, 2016 at 11:00 AM.
The Governor has called upon the Members of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly and the Legislative Council to assemble together in the Central Hall of the Legislature Building in the New Secretariat premises, Jammu, on Monday, the 18th January, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. to hear his Address to both the Houses of the Legislature under the provisions of sub-section (1) of section 55 of the Constitution of Jammu and Kashmir, an official statement said Saturday evening.
After the said Address, each House of the Legislature will meet as a separate body at the time specified by the respective Presiding Officers.
The Governor approved the State Government’s proposal in regard to this matter today
Meanwhile, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, Chief Minister, called on Governor in Jammu at the Rajbhavan today.
In the course of their hour and a half interaction, the Governor and the Chief Minister discussed various important issues relating to the growth and development of the three regions of the State and enhancement of the pace of construction of roads and highways to upgrade connectivity in all parts of the State, without which there cannot be any progress. The Chief Minister also informed the Governor about the envisaged time-frame for the conduct of the long pending elections to the urban and rural self-governing bodies.
