SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has set up a group of senior engineers to serve as Technical Inspectors for major passenger and material ropeway projects across the Union Territory.
According to Government Order No. 57-JK (GAD) of 2026, issued by the General Administration Department, the panel has been constituted under the JK Aerial Ropeways Act, 2002. The inspectors will be responsible for examining the Passenger Ropeway Project from Bhawan to Bhairon and the Material Ropeway Project from Sair Dabri to Bhawan.
The inspection team includes the Chief Engineer of the Mechanical and Hospital Engineering Department, Jammu; the Superintending Engineer from the Directorate of Inspection and Quality Control (DIQC), JK; and the Deputy Manager (Mechanical) or Technical Officer to the Managing Director of the JK Cable Car Corporation.
The order specifies that the appointed engineers shall discharge their duties in strict compliance with the provisions of the JK Aerial Ropeways Act, 2002, with a focus on ensuring technical conformity and adherence to prescribed safety norms for the ropeway projects.
