The Jammu and Kashmir government Friday decided to promote students of Kashmir upto 11th standard to their next classes however, the students of 10th class shall have to go through examinations as per schedule.

Official sources said that the government decided to promote the students of said classes realizing they had spent around seven months in their homes.

The exams were postponed following last year’s devastating floods.

The decision of promoting these students to their next classes had been under consideration of the new government ever since it resumed office.

Sources however said that government has not changed the academic session in Kashmir Valley for yearly examinations.

Meanwhile, sources added that government has also extended the ongoing winter vacations of schools upto 8th standard by a week.
