SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has approved a Rs 6.38 crore project for the development of the revered Khoo Sahib spring at Yarwan in Shadimarg area of Pulwama district, with the aim of improving pilgrim facilities while preserving the shrine’s religious and cultural heritage.
The project will focus on upgrading essential infrastructure and amenities for devotees and visitors at the shrine, which is regarded as one of South Kashmir’s prominent spiritual sites. The government said the initiative is designed to enhance the overall pilgrimage experience without compromising the site’s religious, cultural and historical significance.
Officials said the project forms part of the government’s broader efforts to conserve and develop important religious and heritage sites across Jammu and Kashmir through targeted investments.
The approval comes days after the government sanctioned two heritage conservation projects worth Rs 16.36 crore for the restoration of the historic Jamia Masjid Sharief in Shopian and the Sarvadhar Chaumanda Mata Mandir in Ramban, underscoring its focus on preserving the Union Territory’s diverse religious and cultural legacy.
