SRINAGAR: Health & Medical Education Department, Jammu & Kashmir Government on Monday assigned the charge of the post of principal of GMC Kathua, Udhampur and Handwara to three senior professors.

According to Government Order No.09-JK (HME) of 2023, in the interest of administration and patient care, it is hereby ordered that Dr Surinder Kumar Atri presently posted in department of Pathology GMC Kathua shall hold the charge of Principal GMC Kathua, Dr Mrityunjay posted in department of Psychology GMC Jammu shall hold charge of Principal GMC Udhampur and Dr Iffat Hassan Shah posted in department of Dermatology, GMC Srinagar shall hold charge of GMC Handwara in addition to their own duties, in their own pay and grade, with immediate effect, till regular appointment to the posts are made.

Meanwhile, according to an official statement the move is widely welcomed by the people of district Kupwara and have appreciated the   District Administration Kupwara and  Health Department   for their tireless efforts.

The District administration have already moved fast and identified a rented accommodation for GMC in Handwara town of District Kupwara, besides, recruitment of the staff by the Government is also in process, it reads.

The establishment of GMC Handwara which was pending since a long is progressing in a good pace and appointment of Principal is also one of the major achievements for the establishment of the Medical College, reads an official statement.
