SRINAGAR: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Sunday said his government had maintained a focus on inclusive and people-oriented development across Jammu and Kashmir, citing public outreach, infrastructure projects and improvements in essential services as key priorities during the year so far.
In a post on X, Abdullah said he had visited different parts of the Union Territory, including remote villages, towns and urban centres, to interact with residents and understand their concerns.
He said feedback gathered during these visits had helped shape the Government’s priorities, particularly in areas such as road connectivity, drinking water, electricity supply, environmental protection, healthcare, education, skill development, sports and public infrastructure.
Highlighting major development initiatives, the Chief Minister referred to the proposed modern solid waste management facility at Achan in Srinagar, a mega water supply scheme in Udhampur and the establishment of new industrial estates across Jammu and Kashmir.
He also mentioned the development of Tawi Wonderland, the setting up of Unity Malls and the inaugural International Film Festival of Jammu and Kashmir among the initiatives being pursued by his Government.
Abdullah said the Government was continuing to push projects intended to strengthen infrastructure, create economic opportunities and improve public services.
He added that regular field visits, engagement with people and efforts to address their grievances remained central to the Government’s approach, with the stated objective of ensuring that development reaches all regions and benefits every section of society.
His remarks came a day before Government offices are scheduled to reopen in Jammu on Monday following the annual Darbar Move.
