SRINAGAR: The Government has introduced an annual concessional toll pass for eligible owners of non-commercial vehicles living within 20 kilometres of a National Highway fee plaza, with charges fixed at Rs 1,500 or Rs 3,000 depending on the location of the toll plaza.
The new provision will come into effect on November 1, according to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.
Under the scheme, eligible vehicle owners with a valid and functional FASTag can choose between the existing monthly pass and the new annual Concessional Local Pass for travel through a specific fee plaza.
The annual pass will cost Rs 1,500 at fee plazas located outside municipal or local town limits and Rs 3,000 at plazas situated within these limits.
The pass will be valid only at the fee plaza for which it is issued and cannot be transferred to another plaza.
The ministry said the facility would not apply to National Highways or Expressways where tolls are collected under a closed user-fee collection system.
