The suspended officer, Sarfaraz Ahmad Dar, Assistant Director of the erstwhile Gazetteers Unit (currently posted at the National Register of Records Office, Srinagar, under the Department of Archives, Archaeology & Museums Kashmir), had been appointed as Zonal Magistrate for the Barzulla Zone within the 23-Chanpora Assembly Constituency.

According to the order issued by the DEO, Dar had repeatedly refused to perform his duties despite multiple reminders. As a result, he has been placed under suspension and attached to the office of the Additional Deputy Commissioner (K), Srinagar, until further notice.

The Additional Deputy Commissioner (K), Srinagar, will conduct a detailed inquiry into the officer’s dereliction of duties and misconduct and submit a comprehensive report to the DEO within a week.

Meanwhile, the DEO has warned all officers and officials deployed for the General Elections to the Legislative Assembly 2024 to perform their duties diligently, emphasising that this action was taken to ensure the smooth conduct of the ongoing election process in the district. —(KNO)
