Police arrested many members of ‘Hot Mix Plant Owners Association’ (HMPOA) to prevent them from marching towards Lal Chowk. The members of HMPOA Thursday protested in the press colony to for the release of their pending dues since 2007. They alleged that the state government under the R&B and PWD owes them around Rs 1000 crores.

The protesting members of the association were raising slogans like “No Payment, No Work” and were raising slogans against the finance department and the governor of state.

“We won’t do any macadamization of roads till government release our last bills. State government had assured us that they will be clearing our bills from 2008 by March 31, 2013 but we are yet to receive our payments”, said Bashir Ahmad Khan, one of the protesting contractor.

He further added that from 2008, R&B owes the association around Rs 161 crores and PWD owes them around Rs 743 crores.

The members of the association say they are around 1.62 lakh contractors who are suffering. The protesting contractors said they will continue their protests and won’t allow macadamization till government releases their funds.
