SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Government on Thursday suspended a Medical Officer and initiates action against another for neglecting duties.

The Health and Medical Education Department on Wednesday attached a doctor for dereliction of his duties in Kishtwar, placing him under suspension with immediate effect.

In an order Secretary Health and Medical Education Department, Dr Syed Abid Rasheed Shah stated that pending enquiry into the conduct of Dr Zahoor Ahmad, Medical Officer, (RBKS), National Health Mission (NHM), JK, is attached in the Office of the Chief Medical Officer, Kishtwar.

The order further stated that the Mission Director, NHM, JK shall immediately initiate the process of termination of services of Dr Zahoor Ahmad for dereliction of duties.

Meanwhile, in another order Secretary Health and Medical Education Department ordered suspension of Dr Nadeem Ahmad Tantray, Medical Officer, PHC Afti for dereliction of duties.
“During the suspension period the Medical Officer shall remain attached with the office of Chief Medical Officer, Kishtwar,” the order reads.

Director of Health, Jammu is directed to deploy two doctors immediately on internal arrangement basis to ensure that the workings in the institution (PHC Afti) are not impeded due to the non-availability of doctors, the order informed.
