Advising PDP led coalition government to come out of administrative inertia, CPI (M) leader and MLA Kulgam Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami Thursday urged Chief Minister to come to the rescue of the flood hit people of Kashmir Valley.

In a statement, he urged CM to come up to expectations of the people and live up to her promises made prior to elections. Tarigami lamented that after every rainfall the capital Srinagar city gets inundated. He said the government has not learned any lesson from the past and has taken no initiative to mend the ailing drainage and sewerage system of the city.MLA Kulgam, Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami, (KL Image: Bilal Bahadur)

“Government must come out with some comprehensive reform plans to set the drainage system of Srinagar city on the track,” he said.

“Government is nowhere when flood threat has been looming over Kashmir. Several villages of South Kashmir, particularly in Kulgam district, have come under water. People need help while the government is nowhere. Horticulture sector has suffered losses and it is the duty and responsibility of the government to compensate the losses incurred by people,” he said and hoped that government this time will not let down the flood hit people.
