Minister for Higher Education, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari on Friday informed the Legislative Assembly that the State Cabinet has recently approved the opening of 17 new Degree Colleges in the State.
The spokesman said locations for setting up of these newly sanctioned colleges are being worked out by the Government and priority is being given to the uncovered areas and keeping in view the availability of land, the feasibility of demand with the sufficient number of feeding higher secondary schools in the area.
Replying to a Question by Advocate Mohammad Yousuf Bhat, the Minister elaborated that Government intends to start the academic activities in these colleges as soon as possible.
