Government Women College Srinagar on Saturday organised a daylong seminar to mark the international women’s day with a pledge to make concerted efforts to transform women’s lives and ensure their equality.

The seminar was organised by Women’s college in collaboration with Women’s study Centre Srinagar and District Legal Service Authority.

During the occasion, Professor Shaheen Altaf Mattoo principal of the women’s college spoke about the domestic violence and safety of the women, “our society has been viewed as male-dominated but now things have completely changed, adding that women now play a role of backbone in every society,” she said.

During the function, students also presented the several cultural programmes reflecting the domestic violence on women and the safety of the women.

Faizan Ul Haq Iqbal, secretary of DLSA while speaking on the occasion said that the day has convened the message that violence against the women should be shunned and those matters where women are a victim should be highlighted. “Every woman living in the world should know her rights in society as well as in the religion, there should be no discrimination between the male and female, “ he said.
