As the State Congress has called for ‘Secretariat Gherao’ on May 5, Jammu and Kashmir government has decided not to allow the program.

“Though the Congress has sought the permission for the procession from Congress headquarter to Civil Secretariat on May 5 but keeping in view the VVIP’s and high profile movements in the area the government has denied the permission,” sources told KNS.

They said Police have also shot a letter to the government asking it not to grant the permission to the Congress program.

The police letter No 4124-25 dated 01- 05.2015, a copy of which is in possession of KNS, reveals that in view of the opening of annual Durbar Move on May 5 the M.A Road will be frequented by VVIPs and other high profile people to reach Secretariat and other destinations. “If the permission is granted in favour of Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee it may create traffic chaos and problems. Therefore it is such requested that the permission for caring out procession may not be granted,” the letter reads.

However, the police in its letter has said that they have no objections if Congress will carry out the procession inside the Congress headquarter.

It is to mention here that the congress party in its day long convention last week passed a resolution terming the present dispensation as “unholy” and called for ‘Secretariat Ghereo’ on May 5.
