KU Campus protest against Gowhar’s killing.

Students from different departments in the Kashmir University took out a rally Monday to protest against the killing of Gowhar Nazir Dar, 22, who was killed at Zainakote on Saturday in forces action.

Gowhar’s killing triggered massive protests on Sunday with parts of Kashmir valley observing complete shutdown.

Scores of students marched in the campus and converged near the Iqbal Library raising slogans of justice. The students shouted: “Take our fees back, bring our martyr back.”

On Saturday when Gowhar succumbed to his injuries, KU students were among the first ones to protests against the killing. They also staged a candle light vigil to mourn his death.

Some 500 students were reported to have gathered in the campus to register their protest against the killing. After taking out a rally in entire campus, the students assembled before the Humanities Block and took turns to address the gathering.
