Srinagar

Authorities on Wednesday imposed curfew in Kangan area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district to avoid any untoward incident in the area against the killing of a youth in police action on Monday.

All the shops, business establishments, government and private offices remained in the area and traffic is off the roads.

Gowhar Ahmad Rather (22) was grievously injured in police action on Monday following which he was admitted at SKIMS Soura where he breathed his last on Tuesday.

A curfew has been imposed and Internet service has been snapped to prevent “law and order problems” in the area.

Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Police have arrested a policeman and placed him under suspension over the killing of Rather.
