Srinagar: At least six CRPF personnel and few police men were injured late Sunday evening in Nowhatta Srinagar. One Cop who was critically injured has succumbed to his injuries.

According to reports, a grenade was hurled on government forces when they were retreating back in after days deployment. The attack at around 7pm. A senior police officer confirmed the incident saying they are collecting details. The slain cop has been identified as Shamim Ahmad, a constable.
The CRPF spokesman confirmed injuries to only three CRPF men and few police personnel. Two injured have been shifted to 92 Base Hospital, reports said.
A senior police officer said as many as 16 cops received splinter injuries besides three CRPF men. He said all the injured are stable.
