Grenade Explodes in Baramulla, Kashmir Police Man Injured

   

SRINAGAR: A grenade accidentally detonated earlier today inside the Malkhana of the District Court Complex in Baramulla, injuring one police officer. The Malkhana is a secure area where weapons and evidence are stored.

The explosion prompted an immediate response from security forces, who swiftly secured the site and began an investigation into the incident.

“A grenade went off accidentally inside the Malkhana. One of our personnel on duty was injured and has been taken to hospital for treatment. His condition is stable,” a police official informed local news gatherer, KINS.

Baramulla Police have reassured the public that the situation is under control, urging residents to avoid spreading or believing any rumours circulating in the aftermath of the blast.

“We request the public to remain calm and ignore misinformation. Our team is conducting a thorough investigation, and there is no reason for concern,” a police spokesperson added.

The incident coincided with a planned visit by the Chief Justice of Jammu and Kashmir, heightening the urgency in securing the court complex.

Security forces are continuing to search the area as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of everyone present. Authorities are focusing on confirming the accidental nature of the explosion and assessing any potential further risks.

The injured officer is currently receiving medical care at a nearby hospital, and his condition is being closely monitored.
