The Gujjar and Bakerwal tribal communities under the banner of Tribal Research and Cultural  Foundation- a frontal organization of Tribes of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday demanded a judicial inquiry into an unfortunate incident in which a nomad was killed and another injured in a firing in Kohli area of Gool tehsil in Ramban district of  State.

The spokesman in a statement said that killing of a cattle rarer namely Mohammad Rafiq Gujjar (28) and injuring Shakeel Ahmad (30), both residents of Gool, as reported, is highly condemnable which needs to be investigated thoroughly.

The community members were reacting on media reports whereby it has been said that both nomad Gujjars were allegedly fired upon by the government forces when they were leaving Kohli village around 4 am with their cattle.

In an email, to Defence Minister of India the Gujjar community members demanded that culprit must be punished as per law in vogue. The community demanded that a strong directive must be issued to government forces so that more such incidents do not occur in tribal areas of J&K anymore. They demanded compensation for both the families.

The death of tribal was condoled by Gujjar Scholar Dr Javaid Rahi, Anwar Hussain, Mohammad Iqbal, Shabir Poswal, Sadiq Chowdhary, Mohammad Adress, Mohammad Amin Kohli, Yousuf Chowdhary and others.
