SRINAGAR: Gujarat Titans players and support staff had a narrow escape after the team bus reportedly caught fire due to a suspected short circuit while returning to the hotel following their defeat to Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL 2026 final, according to media reports.
As reported by The Tribune and The Times of India, smoke began billowing inside the vehicle, prompting players and support staff to immediately evacuate the bus. No injuries were reported in the incident.
The team was reportedly stranded by the roadside for some time before an alternative bus was arranged to safely transport them to the hotel.
The incident occurred shortly after Gujarat Titans suffered a five-wicket defeat to Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL final on Sunday, ending their title hopes.
The reported mishap capped a difficult few days for the franchise, which had also endured a hectic travel schedule ahead of the summit clash.
