SRINAGAR: For the second consecutive day on Friday the minimum temperature remained above the freezing point in Srinagar city as the weather office forecast dry weather for the next seven days.

An official of the Met Department said, “Weather is likely to remain dry during the next seven days although the minimum temperatures are likely to drop by 2 to 3 degrees during the next 2 days.”

He said the night’s lowest temperature in Srinagar was 1.0 degree Celsius while the mercury in Qazigund in south Kashmir settled at a low of minus 0.8 degrees Celsius.

Gulmarg, the famous skiing resort in north Kashmir, recorded a low of minus 9.4 degrees Celsius.

The night temperature in Pahalgam – the famous health resort which also serves as one of the base camps for the annual Amarnath Yatra – settled at a low of minus 3.6 degrees.

Kokernag town recorded a low of minus 1.3 degrees Celsius while Kupwara town in north Kashmir registered a low of 0.8 degrees Celsius last night.

Jammu city had 8.7 degree Celsius, Katra 7.8, Batote 2.3, Bannihal 0.8 and Bhaderwah 0.9 as the minimum temperatures.
