SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday informed the Legislative Assembly that Gulmarg is set to witness a significant upgrade in its sanitation infrastructure with the approval of a 2 MLD Sewage Treatment Plant (STP).

The Chief Minister said the project, estimated at Rs 46.50 crore, is scheduled for execution during the financial year 2026–27 and is aimed at improving wastewater management in the popular tourist destination.
He further informed the House that a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for a Solid Waste Treatment Plant is currently under preparation, indicating a broader push towards strengthening waste management systems in Gulmarg.
The move is part of the government’s efforts to promote sustainable infrastructure and address environmental concerns in high-footfall tourist areas across Jammu and Kashmir.
