Jammu and Kashmir Police on Tuesday claimed that they have solved Gulmarg Gondola burglary case by arresting five persons involved in the theft.

A police spokesman in a statement said that they have cracked a burglary case FIR No 5/2019 of PS Gulmarg pertaining to the burglary at Gulmarg Gandola in which cash Rs 51 Lacs was stolen.

“Officers while investigating the case with the assistance of advanced technical resources identified a suspect Bashir Ahmad Shah son of Ghulam Mohammad Shah resident of Dalwach,” said police spokesman.

He said while investigating the case the concerned officers spoke to suspected person, they learnt about his involvement in the burglary.

“He also revealed the involvement of four other accomplices in the crime. They were identified as Abdul Ahad Ganai son of Abdul Rehman Ganie resident of Hardichloo (employee of Cable Car Corporation), Abdul Majeed Lone son of Ghulam Ahmad Lone resident of Chanpora, Imtiyaz Bhat son of Ghulam Qadir resident of Hardichloo and Manzoor Ahmad Sheikh son of Mohammad Abdullah resident of Chuntipathri, who were subsequently arrested,” he said.

He said that besides, cash amounting to Rs 34 Lacs has been recovered so far.

“Officers investigating the case have also learnt that the employee of cable car corporation Abdul Ahad Ganai had masterminded the burglary,” he added.

“He provided vital information to the group as to how they should execute the plan and the layout of the cashier room,” said the spokesman in a statement.
