Chief Minister Mufti Sayeed’s idea of promoting Gulmarg as ‘India’s Davos’ for economic policy making has excited Khyber group that runs the world class Khyber Resort and Spa in Kashmir’s winter wonderland. They said the idea can change the future of Kashmir as a destination.
“It is a great idea,” Umar Khursheed Tramboo, MD Khyber Hotel Resorts said. “We are more than willing to host it and be associated with the idea.”
Tramboo said the resort has helped become a round the year destination for a section of the visitors who would usually shuttle between Srinagar and Gulmarg for want of adequate staying space. “This Davos idea will actually change the entire socio-economic profile of the place and redefine Kashmir as destination,” Tramboo said.
Located at 8825 ft above sea level, Khyber Resort and Spa is a prized property that was created in three years at an investment of more than Rs 120 crore. In the last two years of its operation, the Resort was reviewed by some of the world’s best media houses and bagged some of the prestigious awards from the hospitality sector. Its 85 rooms have more than eighty percent occupancy round the year.
