A scribe Working with Sahara News group died  early Friday after taking Sehri.

Gulzar Sofi aka Gulzar Sahara aged 37 died today morning due to cardiac arrest. He is survived by his wife and 5 year old son, Abdullah.

As per family sources, Gulzar awoke all the family members for Sehri around 2:30 AM and after taking Sehri went for Fajar prayers. “After the prayers he slept again and when his wife went to wake him up, Gulzar had left this world,” one of the Gulzar’s relatives said.

Gulzar has covered almost all the fierce encounters in South Kashmir apart from protests, and have always highlighted local issues of the area without any threat, his acquaintances said.

“During Asiya-Neelofer case, when police was not able to come out of their barracks, I saw him manning traffic,” said a local Tariq Ahmad.

“When Bal Ashram kids were taken by a local apple trader for apple plucking it was gulzar who highlighted this issue and  strict action was taken against trader and management,” a local told Kashmir Life.

“Gulzar was first journalist to record statement of two witnesses in Asiya-Neelofar case,” his friends claim.

Meanwhile, Shopian-Pulwama Journalists Guild has expressed deep sorrow over the death of noted scribe and expressed sympathy with Gulzar’s family.
