GANDERBAL: Public Health Engineering Department (PHE) has so far failed to provide proper and safe drinking water to the many areas of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.
Areas like Gund and Kullan are using unsafe drinking water for last one month. People of these areas alleged that the concerned department has not taken up any step of cleaning the filtration plant.
After drinking unsafe water many water borne diseases have erupted in these areas. Children and elder citizens are taken the main brunt of these problems, residents said.
Residents said the PHE has not cleaned the filtration plant for last two years. So the tanks have accumulated scum with water, which makes it, unfit for drinking purposes. The PHE is allegedly not using any water cleaning chemicals from last many months, sources allege.
