An encounter broke out between militants and forces in Kakapora area of Pulwama district late Wednesday night, reports said.
“Forces cordoned off New Colony Kakapora after a naka party spotted militants travelling in a vehicle,” they said.
The forces later launched a massive cordon and search operation during which they established a contact with the militants and an exchange of fire took place.
Reports said that announcements are being made over the public address systems of the mosques, asking people to hit the streets to help the “trapped militants” escape.
