SRINAGAR: A gunfight broke out between militants and government forces in Lawaypora area of central Kashmir’s Srinagar district on Tuesday evening.
Reports said that a joint team of CRPF and Police launched a cordon and search operation in Lawaypora after having credible inputs about the presence of some militants in the area.

As the joint team of forces approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon forces triggering an encounter.
When last reports came intermittent firing was going on.
