SRINAGAR: An encounter broke out between security forces and militants in a remote forest area of Kishtwar district in Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday, officials told Daily Excelsior.
The exchange of fire began during a cordon-and-search operation launched at Sonnar village near Mandral–Singhoora in the Chatroo area around noon, officials added.
Additional reinforcements have been deployed to the area, while further details are awaited.
