SRINAGAR: A gunfight broke out between militants and government forces Wanigam area of Kreeri in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Thursday.
Reports said that a joint team of Army, CRPF and Police launched a cordon and search operation in Wanigam Payeen area of Kreeri after having credible inputs about the presence of some militants in the area.

As the joint team of forces approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon forces triggering an encounter.
When last reports came intermittent firing was going on.
