Gunfight Breaks Out In South Kashmir

SRINAGAR: A gunfight broke out between militants and government forces in Wangam village in south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Saturday late evening.

Reports said that a joint team of Army, CRPF and Jammu and Kashmir police launched a cordon and search operation in Wangam area of Shopian after having credible inputs about the presence of militants in the area.

As the joint team of forces approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon forces triggering an encounter.

When last reports came intermittent firing was going on.
