A gunfight broke out between militants and the counter-insurgent forces in south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Tuesday late evening.
Reports said the gunfight broke out after a joint team of army, Jammu and Kashmir police and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in Melhoora area of Zainapora in Shopian district.
They said the hiding militants, opened fire on the forces when they were challenged, triggering a heavy exchange of fire.
