Gunfight broke out between militants and the forces after the militants attacked an army patrol in Bounigam area of Qazigund in southern Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Monday.
A local news agency reported that militants after carrying out the attack on army patrol at Bounigam that left a soldier injured took shelter inside a building.
They said that the forces cordoned off the area immediately after the attack.
The exchange of fire began after the forces approached the building where militants were hiding, they said.
