An encounter has been started between militants and government forces at Khudpora Memander area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Saturday evening.
Official sources said that army’s Para 23 battalion and Jammu and Kashmir police acting on inputs about the presence of some militants launched s cordon-and-search operation in the village.
Sources said that after the search party fired some shots towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants opened fire, triggering of an exchange of fire.
When reports last came in the intermittent exchange of firing was going on.
