A gunfight broke out between militants and government forces in Mirpora Pinjoora area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Monday early morning.
Reports said that a joint team of Army and SOG Shopian launched a cordon and search operation in Pinjoora village after having credible inputs about the presence of some militants in the area.
As the joint team of forces approached the suspected, the hiding militants fired upon forces triggering an encounter.
When last reports came intermittent firing was going on.
This is the second encounter in last 24 hours in Shopian district.
On Sunday a top Hizb commander among five militants were killed in Reban village of the district.
