Panic gripped the North Kashmir’s Sopore when some unidentified men fired in Iqbal market on Sunday afternoon leaving three persons injured. The gunmen fled from the spot.

SP Sopore, Imtiyaz Hussain who was present on the spot confirmed to Kashmir Life over phone that unidentified gunmen fired some rounds of bullets leaving Kishore Kumar belt number 837 of IRP 16 battalion, Abdul Rashid Dar, 60 and Nazir Ahmad Hajam injured. The injured have been referred to Srinagar hospital.

“Traffic had got struck in the market around 12.30 pm. As some of police men came down of their vehicles to divert the traffic some unidentified men fired some rounds of bullets,” Imtiyaz told Kashmir Life.

Evading the tragedy, Imtiyaz said that police exercised restraint and did not retaliate.

“We couldn’t fire back in the market as there were many locals present in market that time, if I would had fired then it would had been a massacre and that is why those unidentified men fled”, he said

He further added that Kishore Kumar has got a bullet in his neck and Sonaullah on his head. “The unidentified men after firing snatched the riffle of Kishore Kumar as well”.
