SRINAGAR: The counter-insurgent forces intensified a cordon and search operation (CASO) in the Saidpora area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district on Saturday after gunshots were heard during the operation, officials said.
A senior police officer said that some gunshots were heard while security forces were conducting the search operation in Saidpora. Following the incident, additional reinforcements were rushed to the area and the cordon was strengthened.
Officials said the exact reason behind the gunfire was not immediately known. There were no reports of any injuries or damage till the filing of this report.
The search operation was continuing in the area, and further details were awaited. (GNS)
