After remaining closed for nearly 5-months, the 83-km Gurez-Bandipora road would be thrown open for vehicular movement on Tuesday. The 14,000-feet high Razdan pass, which connects Gurez Valley with Bandipora District, was thrown open on temporary basis on May 15, however, it was closed on the same day after fresh snowfall. This pass received very heavy snowfall during the winter months leading to the closure of road for 5-months.

Border Roads Organization Commander Colonel Murli Dhar told CNS that BRO used sophisticated machines to clear the snow on the road which was closed on December 12 last year due to heavy snowfall and same would be thrown open for traffic on Tuesday.
