SRINAGAR: Border Roads Organisation on Tuesday completed the snow clearance of Gurez Bandipora road after remaining cutoff from the rest of the world for 38 days.

An official spokesperson of Border Roads Organisation (BRO) said that “Team BRO 56 RCC / 32 BRTF / completed the snow clearance for movement of vehicles in single lane connected the Gurez valley with rest of Kashmir valley giving a big relief for the local population and Army in a record time.”

Meanwhile Deputy Commissioner Shakeel ur Rehman Rather said issued advisory for one-way movement of traffic on the Gurez-Bandipora road. “In order to ensure safe movement of vehicles on Bandipora — Gurez road and to avert any mishap, it is hereby ordered that there shall be one way traffic movement on Bandipora — Gurez road, starting from Bandipora to Gurez on 27.03.2024, till further orders, subject to fair weather conditions,“ reads the order

“The cutoff timing  for vehicles travelling from Bandipora towards Gurez have to cross Tragbal by 11:00 AM while the vehicles moving from  Gurez towards Bandipora have to cross Kanzalwan  by 11:00 AM.

Deputy Commissioner has directed drivers to use anti-skid chains. Senior Superintendent of Police, Bandipora, has been asked to issue necessary directions to SHO P/S Pethkoot and DO Kanzalwan, for strict adherence of the orders.

Further in view of prediction of light rain/snow from 27th march afternoon, drivers/vehicle owners who are willing to stay at Gurez shall be allowed. Officer commanding, BRO shall keep machinery available/ready at Razdhaan & Zatkusi till traffic crosses safely, it added.
