Gurez-Bandipora Road Reopens After Snowfall at Razdan Top, Other Areas

SRINAGAR: The Gurez-Bandipora road was reopened to traffic on Wednesday after snowfall at Razdan Top, Kilshay Top and Kobal Gali disrupted travel along the mountainous route.

Razdan Top received nearly five inches of snow, making the road slippery and affecting connectivity in the area.

Officials said snow-clearance machinery was deployed to remove the accumulated snow and restore the road. The Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Gurez, subsequently confirmed that the route had been cleared and reopened to traffic.

The fresh snowfall has posed challenges for commuters travelling through the high-altitude areas, where adverse weather can quickly affect road conditions.

Meanwhile, the weather forecast for Jammu and Kashmir indicates generally cloudy conditions with light to moderate rain at many places from October 13 to 15, with light snowfall over higher reaches. Thunderstorms, gusty winds and hailstorms are also possible at isolated places.

Generally dry weather is expected from October 16 to 25, with no significant weather activity forecast during the period.
