Gurupurab celebrated with religious gaiety across valley

Gurupurab, the birthday of Guru Nanak Dev Singh, was on Saturday celebrated with religious fervour and gaiety in Kashmir valley and Ladakh region.

Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, leaders of different political parties and Sikh organisations have greeted people on the occasion.

Braving chilly weather conditions, members of the Sikh community, including women and children, in colourful dresses are visiting Gurdwaras since Saturday morning.

Gurupurab, the birthday of first Guru of Sikhs, and the founder of Sikhism, Guru Nanak Dev is being celebrated throughout the state with traditional religious fervour and enthusiasm.

The main function will be held at Gurdwara Chatipadshahi in old city’s Rainawari area while as a heavy rush of devotees is expected at Amira Kadal Gurdwara also.
