Gusty Winds, Rain, and Snow Likely in Jammu Kashmir Till March 27

   

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir is set to experience isolated light rain and thunderstorms over the next three days, with higher reaches likely to receive light snowfall. According to the Meteorological Centre Srinagar, a spell of light to moderate rain and snow is expected between the afternoon of March 26 and the late afternoon of March 27, accompanied by gusty winds reaching 40-50 kmph. The weather is expected to improve gradually thereafter, with generally dry conditions forecasted from March 28 to 31, continuing into the first three days of April.

Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir continues to witness above-normal temperatures, with both day and night temperatures rising across the region. The maximum day temperature remained 2-8°C above normal in many parts, while minimum night temperatures were 3-5°C above normal in Kashmir and 0-4°C above normal in Jammu. The ski resort of Gulmarg recorded a night temperature of 3.6°C, while Srinagar recorded 9.8°C, 4.4°C above normal. Qazigund in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district saw 7.2°C, 3.3°C above normal, and Pahalgam registered 5.8°C, marking a 5°C rise above normal. Kupwara recorded 6.5°C, 2.9°C above normal.

The Meteorological Centre has issued an advisory, urging travellers, tourists, and transporters to plan accordingly and follow administrative and traffic advisories. Farmers are advised to suspend farm operations on March 26 and 27. There is also a possibility of thunderstorms with gusty winds at a few places during this period.
