Deputy Chairman LAHDC, Leh Gyal P Wangyal was elected uncontested as the fourth Chief Executive Councillor/Chairman of the Hill Council in the General Council Assembly held at the Council Secretariat on Tuesday.
Deputy Commissioner and CEO LAHDC, Leh Avny Lavasa convened the proceedings of the election process.
Councilors Skurbuchan and Stanzin Phuntsog proposed the name of Gyal P Wangyal for the vacant post of Chairman and CEC which was seconded and supported by other Councilors.
After taking the seat of CEC, Gyal P Wangyal in his address stressed on ensuring a cordial work atmosphere with a common goal towards achieving development targets well on time.
He urged all the councilors of both ruling and opposition parties to work unitedly with the intention to serve the people of the region.
Later, the CEC visited Chowkhang Vihara, Jama Masjid and Imam Bargha to pay his obeisance. He also visited the memorial stupa of Sonam Wangyal (Former State Minister ) at Housing Colony to pay homage to the departed leader.
On the occasion, MP Ladakh Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, MLC Cheering Dorjey, and other senior political leaders were present.
