SRINAGAR: The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has urged people to remain vigilant amid a seasonal increase in Influenza A (H1N1) cases, while noting that most infections are mild and resolve on their own.
The medical body advised people against self-medicating with antibiotics, stressing that H1N1 is caused by a virus and antibiotics do not treat viral infections.
The IMA also recommended maintaining respiratory hygiene to reduce the risk of infection and advised people to wear a well-fitted mask when in crowded or enclosed spaces.
The advisory comes amid a seasonal rise in H1N1 infections and seeks to encourage preventive measures while discouraging inappropriate antibiotic use.
