SRINAGAR: Police detained a habitual criminal under the Public Safety Act (PSA) in Rajouri district on Thursday and lodged him in District Jail Udhampur, officials said.
The detainee was identified as Shivaji Singh, son of Jaswant Singh, a resident of Raipur Domana in Jammu who is currently residing in Katra.
Police said the action followed a detention order issued by the District Magistrate, Reasi. Singh was subsequently taken into custody and lodged in District Jail Udhampur.
According to police, six criminal cases have been registered against Singh at different police stations. Despite being arrested earlier in multiple cases, he allegedly continued to engage in activities considered prejudicial to public peace and order, police said.
Based on the inputs received, Reasi Police prepared a dossier detailing his criminal antecedents and activities. The competent authority subsequently issued the PSA detention order, officials said.
